Terms of Service

You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter into this agreement. By submitting pay information, you represent that it is your own real compensation information and that you have the right to share it — you agree not to submit anyone else's pay, confidential information, or anything you're contractually barred from disclosing.

Journeyman collects self-reported pay information from tradespeople and displays it in aggregate to show approximate market rates. It is an informational tool built from data that users submit themselves. We do not independently verify submissions.

The information on Journeyman is for general informational purposes only. It is not financial, legal, tax, career, or employment advice, and it is not a guarantee of any wage, raise, or job outcome. Do not rely on it as the sole basis for any decision. Wage outcomes depend on many factors specific to you, your employer, and your market. Consider consulting a qualified professional before making employment or financial decisions.

You keep ownership of the information you submit. By submitting it, you grant Shukti Media LLC a worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable license to store, process, aggregate, anonymize, and display that information — including in combined, statistical, or aggregate form — to operate and improve Journeyman and its pay index. Because the index depends on the data staying complete, this license survives even if you later stop using the site, though you may request deletion of an individual submission as described in our Privacy Policy.

This license covers aggregate and de-identified use of your data. It does not, on its own, let us share your contact information or an identifiable profile with employers or staffing agencies. That only happens if you separately and explicitly opt in to a discoverable profile, as described in our Privacy Policy, and you can opt back out at any time.

You are responsible for the accuracy of what you submit. You agree not to submit false, misleading, or fraudulent data.

You agree not to: submit false or automated entries; scrape, harvest, or bulk-download the site or its data; attempt to de-anonymize other users; interfere with or disrupt the site; or use Journeyman for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms.

Your use of Journeyman is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains what we collect and how we handle it.

Journeyman and all data on it are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We specifically make no warranty that the pay data is accurate, complete, current, or representative of any particular market, and no warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. The data is self-reported by users and unverified. You use it at your own risk.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Shukti Media LLC and its owners, members, and affiliates will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any lost profits, lost wages, lost opportunities, or reliance on any data, arising out of or related to your use of Journeyman. Our total liability for any claim relating to Journeyman will not exceed one hundred U.S. dollars ($100.00). Some jurisdictions don't allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Shukti Media LLC and its owners and members from any claims, losses, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of information you submit, your use of the site, or your violation of these Terms.

Journeyman is currently free for workers, and it is our intention to keep it that way. We may add, change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service — including features, the pay index, or paid offerings for employers and staffing agencies — at any time. Any such employer offering will only ever expose an individual worker's profile or contact information on an opt-in basis, as described in Section 4 and our Privacy Policy. We'll try to give notice of significant changes, but we're not obligated to.

We may suspend or terminate access to anyone who violates these Terms or misuses the site. You may stop using Journeyman at any time.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Subject to the arbitration section below, any dispute will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Illinois, and you consent to their jurisdiction.

Most concerns can be resolved quickly — email us first at shailenshukti@gmail.comand we'll try to work it out. If we can't, you and Shukti Media LLC agree that any dispute that can't be resolved informally will be settled by binding individual arbitration rather than in court, except that either party may bring an individual claim in small-claims court.

You and we agree to bring claims only in an individual capacity, and not as a plaintiff or class member in any class or representative action. If this class-action waiver is found unenforceable, the rest of this section will not apply. You may opt out of this arbitration agreement by emailing us within 30 days of first accepting these Terms.

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we'll change the “last updated” date above and, for material changes, post a notice on the site. Continuing to use Journeyman after an update means you accept the revised Terms.
